How to choose your neoprene wetsuit?

Neoprene wetsuits are a must-have for surfing in all conditions and conserving body heat. Wetsuit technology improves every year, so it's sometimes hard to know which wetsuit to choose. Several criteria need to be taken into account, such as the thickness of the neoprene, the shape of the wetsuit (long-sleeved, shorty or integral) and the quality of the seams.

The thickness of the neoprene is essential, and will depend on the temperature of the water you'll be swimming in. Of course, with the same thickness, you won't be able to withstand the same temperatures if you opt for a neoprene shorty wetsuit. The wetsuits we offer at Prism Surfboards are 2mm-thick shorty models, ideal for summer surfing in water temperatures ranging from 18 to 22°.

The seams of your neoprene wetsuit are also important. At Prism Surfboards, we offer flatlock seams. Also known as flatlock seams, flatlock seams consist of affixing one edge to another and then joining them together. This method offers optimum comfort.

Choose your neoprene wetsuit size carefully too. A well-fitting wetsuit will protect you better from the cold, but you also need to have freedom of movement. To select your size, please refer to our size chart, which takes into account all the essential measurements for choosing your neoprene wetsuit.

How to care for a neoprene wetsuit

To increase the durability of your neoprene wetsuit, a few simple maintenance steps are essential. To preserve your neoprene, rinse your wetsuit with clear water after each use to remove sand, salt and impurities. Use cold water for this purpose. At the end of the season, when you store your neoprene wetsuit, be sure to give it a thorough cleaning: leave it to soak in a basin containing Marseille soap, for example. This will remove bacteria, unpleasant odors and salt residues. Drying your neoprene wetsuit is also essential, so avoid the sun and dry it flat or simply on a chair. Don't use a hanger, as it may stretch or deform the suit. By taking good care of your neoprene wetsuit, you'll prolong its life and enjoy optimum comfort throughout your sessions.

Protect yourself from the summer chill with Prism Surfboards neoprene wetsuits, so you can enjoy your water activities without fear of the cold. What's more, we're sure you'll love the oldshcool style of our wetsuits, designed to last!
