Olaian is Decathlon's surf brand. The name comes from Basque—OLA (wave) and IAN (inside)—and the design team is based in Hendaye, in the Basque Country. As for credibility, no worries: the people who design the boards actually surf.

Let's face it: the entry price is low. A board for €160 with leash and fins included, ready to surf as soon as you leave the store—on paper, it's attractive. Immediate availability in more than 300 stores in France and a 365-day return policy are also concrete arguments. But a low price does not necessarily mean good value for money.
Limitations to be aware of
- ⚠ UV sensitivity — The foam discolors and delaminates if left in the sun. Surfers report problems after just one intensive season.
- ⚠ Non-reinforced construction (100 and 500 ranges) — Beyond 30 sessions/year, the foam collapses and rigidity decreases. May need to be replaced the following year.
- ⚠ General advice — A Decathlon salesperson covers all departments. It can be difficult to get specific advice on the ideal volume for your size and spot.
Prism Surfboards: what the specialist offers

Are Olaian boards sturdy?
